Pre-Conference Seminar on Writing Philosophy for Music Education
The Kalliokuninkala Retreat (www.kuninkala.fi)
June 3-8, Helsinki, Finland

The Sibelius Academy, in conjunction with the 8th International Symposium for the Philosophy of Music Education, invites graduate and doctoral students to a special seminar on the writing and publishing of music education philosophy.  This four-day seminar will be held at the Sibelius Academy's special historic home, Kalliokuninkala, in the lake district of Tuusula.

Activities: lectures by Professor Philip Alperson and Pentti Määttänen; publishing advice from journal editors; small group workshops (facilitated by Allsup, Benedict, Schmidt, Väkevä, Westerlund and others) and innumerable opportunities to meet and share ideas with an international cohort of early career philosophers and researchers.

Fee: 300 euros (includes 5 night's accommodation at Kalliokuninkala, 4 meals a day, and admission to the ISPME conference, June 9-13, 2010 in Helsinki).

Deadline for applying: January 15, 2009.
